North American Robin

Familiar bird over most of North America.The robin's rich caroling is among the earliest bird songs heard at dawn in spring and summer, often beginning just before first light. In fall and winter, robins may gather by the hundreds in roaming flocks, concentrating at sources of food.

Feeds mostly on insects in the spring and summer but when the cold arrives the diet goes to fruits and berries.

This carving is made out of one block of Tupelo. There are no inserted feathers, the feet are soldered copper withe an acrylic overlay. It is one of a kind, carved and painted in march 2017.
